Hello, friends! We have reached the end of cake—I mean, of the year, and what a year it was. Workshops! Book releases! So many koroks found under rocks! If you don’t know what that means, good, you’ve saved yourself some blood pressure spikes and pointless attempts to murder adorable leaf people. Yahaha!
News!
Speaking of reviewing the year, in the time-honored tradition of authors trying not to self-reject during awards season, I’ve compiled a list of all the works I published in 2023. Novel, novella, novelette, short story, poem… and of course a mention of my co-editorial duties at Escape Pod, for anyone pondering who to nominate for Best Editor or Best Semiprozine. Check it out to see what you might have missed!
For example, did you know I wrote a story for Magic the Gathering? “The Lost Caverns of Ixalan” is six episodes of action, adventure, cave exploration and other shenanigans in a race to the world’s core. It was immensely fun to write, and brought back so many fond memories of pitting my black deck against my husband’s blue and red one. (Force of Will is trash and deserved to be banned, kthxbai.)
With some holidays already in progress and others fast approaching, you may be thinking, what can I buy for $2 with all these gift cards I’ve accumulated? The answer is books! Specifically, Prime Deceptions and Fault Tolerance. For reasons known only to my publisher, Fault Tolerance is on sale first and longer, from December 10th to 31st, while Prime Deceptions is only on sale from December 18th to 25th.
Cats!
My sweet little hooligans are driving me to distraction by getting sick in incompatible ways. But they’re still here, and I’m so grateful for that.
If you have any questions you'd like me to answer in a blog post or here in the newsletter, you can leave a comment on the Substack page, email me, or find me on the social media site of your preference. Stay safe, and thanks for joining in the shenanigans!
I am a fan of yours.
