Shenanigans I: So It Begins
Greetings, friends!
Welcome to these inaugural Shenanigans, which will be of the silly variety rather than secret or dishonest. Since this is my first newsletter, it may meander a bit more than usual, so I hope you'll bear with me. I promise it will be shorter than a Hugo Awards host's unsavory anecdote!
Events!
Speaking of Hugo Awards, I was excited to be a part of CoNZealand, despite the many issues surrounding and permeating the event. If you were an attendee and missed my reading and panels, you can still rewatch them for a limited time.
I also had the pleasure of reading and chatting with Michael R. Underwood, author of Annihilation Aria, hosted by The Ivy Bookstore. You can watch a recording at your leisure, and grab a copy of Mike's excellent space opera while you're at it. He also has several other series you can explore on his website, all of them very fun.
My next event will be a panel discussion with other local Georgia authors for Hometown Novel Nights, presented by the Newnan Carnegie Library. I'll share full details as soon as they're available, or you can follow their Facebook page for updates.
News!
In more forward-looking news, I'll be among the many amazing authors contributing a story to Don't Touch That: An Anthology of Parenthood in Science Fiction and Fantasy. This one's a Kickstarter, so please back it now if that sounds like your jam.
Also, in case you hadn't heard me shouting about it already, my book Prime Deceptions comes out next month! I feel like I've been waiting for this for a century, and yet now it's almost here. I've posted the first two chapters on my blog for your perusal, and if you want to win a copy, there's a Goodreads giveaway running through the end of the month (for US residents only, sorry).

My last bit of news is more of a tease: I'll be interviewing a Very Famous author this week for an upcoming virtual gaming event, so stay tuned for more information! Slide on over to my Instagram for a really big clue...
Cool Stuff!
You know what else comes out next month? My friend Karen Osborne's thrilling space opera, Architects of Memory! This is her debut novel, and if you like action and corporate intrigue and ancient alien tech, you should definitely check this out. She also has links to her award-nominated short fiction on her website if you want a taste of her style.
Cats!
As promised, we conclude with a picture of one of my cats. Wash has been immensely enjoying the amount of time I've spent reading over the past few days, because that means he gets to snooze peacefully on my lap as long as the kids aren't in the living room with me. He would super appreciate if you pre-ordered my book, because then maybe he can have little a tuna, as a treat?

That's all for now! If you have any questions you'd like me to answer in a blog post or here in the newsletter, you can leave a comment on the Substack page, email me, or find me on Twitter or Facebook. Stay safe, and thanks for joining in the shenanigans!
